Starting kindergarten is an exciting milestone, and at McKissick Academy of Science and Technology, we are committed to making every child's transition into school a positive and successful experience.
To help our newest Sharks feel comfortable, confident, and ready for their first day, MAST will begin the school year with a staggered start for all kindergarten students. This approach allows families and students to build relationships with their teacher, become familiar with the classroom, and ease into the school environment before the full school year begins.
From Tuesday, August 4, through Thursday, August 6, each kindergarten family will participate in a scheduled one-on-one appointment with their child's teacher. These individual meetings provide an opportunity for students to explore their new classroom, meet their teacher, ask questions, and begin building the strong relationships that are essential for a successful school year.
On Friday, August 7, all kindergarten students will attend their first official day of school together. This special day marks the beginning of an exciting journey filled with learning, friendship, discovery, and growth.
Registered kindergarten families will receive an email on July 14 with instructions for scheduling their individual family appointment. We encourage families to watch for this email and sign up as soon as appointments become available.
